EMMITSBURG, MD. - The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (17-17, 9-2 NEC) secured a 15-3 win over Mount St. Mary's (9-20, 4-7 NEC) in game two of the weekend series on Friday afternoon.
How it happened
- Justin Sierra opened the scoring for the Knights in the third inning with a run scored on an RBI single to shortstop by Joan Sosa.
- Tom Ruscitti scored in the top of the fourth on an RBI double to right field by Brelon Harden, making it 2-0.
- The Mountaineers responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Knights extended their lead in the fifth. George Rosales scored on a fielding error by the second baseman to make it 3-1.
- Sosa added a run in the top of the six on Hunter D'Amato's RBI single to center.
- FDU registered a nine-run seventh inning with the first ten batters reaching base safely. Harden delivered a grand slam, driving in William Pope, Tom Ruscitti, and Luke Cantwell. Sosa scored again off a single through the left side by D'Amato, and then Rosales and D'Amato reached home on Cantwell's RBI single to right field. Tommy Verga scored on a ground out to second, and Cantwell added the last run of the inning on a single to left by Pope, extending the lead to 13-1.
- Matthew Milone and Sosa added two runs in the top of the eighth to finish the game with 15 runs and 16 safe hits.
- The Mount scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough to catch up to FDU.
Inside the box
- Rich Racobaldo earned his second win by going 5.0 innings, striking out five, and allowing only one run.
- D'Amato went 4-6, registering two RBIs and one stolen base.
- Sosa finished 2-4 with three runs, one RBI and two walks.
- Harden registered five RBIs, a double and a run.
- Cantwell finished with two RBIs and two runs.
