Final Four: Women's Bowling Set for Showdown in Columbus Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio - After a marathon season consisting of 104 matches over six months, only two days stand in the way of the Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team from rolling their way to the third national championship in program history. FDU's Cinderella run in the 2022 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship has been nothing short of spectacular with the team going 3-0 in three matches last weekend in the Rochester Regional, including the cherry on top in the form of a 2-0 Mega Match victory over #2 Nebraska, the top-seeded club in the region, to punch the Knights' ticket to the ninth Final Four in program history.

Mike LoPresti's team is one of three teams competing this weekend, joining Stephen F. Austin and Vanderbilt, with two National Championships as the Knights took home all the marbles in 2006 and 2010. FDU's appearance in this year's tournament is the 14th all-time and is the first Final Four berth since 2012 (national runner-up). Boasting experience at the top in the form of the Knights' trio of graduate students in Amanda Chrzanowski, Jenna Henderson and Aimee Sherman, along with senior Lanasia Neal and a pair of juniors in Ashley Sham and Cameron Spring, LoPresti's team comes in well prepared for the national stage as nine of the 11 of the roster participated in last year's NCAA tournament which was held in North Kansas City, Mo. FDU went 1-2 in the tournament, eliminated on the second day of the regional round.

FDU opens up the Championship with a 9 a.m. bout on Friday, April 15, against Vanderbilt on lanes 27 and 28 of Wayne Webb's Columbus Bowl. On the season, FDU is 5-1 against the Commodores, winning the last four-straight, three of which were Baker total pinfall scoring. Regardless of the outcome, FDU will bowl again at 3 p.m. in the modified double elimination bracket with the two winners (the other match being McKendree vs. Stephen F. Austin) facing each other and the two defeated sides doing battle. One team will be eliminated Friday. Whichever team wins the match four on the bracket will face the loser of match three on Saturday, April 16 at 9 a.m. with the winner advancing to the National Championship live on ESPNU at 8 p.m. Saturday evening.
