EMMITSBURG, MD. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (16-17, 8-2 NEC) won the first game of the series against Mount St. Mary's (9-19, 4-6 NEC) 13-4 on Thursday afternoon. 
How it happened 
	- Hunter D'Amato opened the scoring with a two-run home run over the wall in right-center field, making it 2-0 in the first inning.  
 
	- In the second inning, Tom Ruscitti scored off an RBI single down the left line by TJ Werner.  
 
	- The Knights extended their lead to 8-0 with a five-run fourth inning. Joan Sosa blasted a two-run homer to left-center, driving in Tommy Verga. Then, TJ Werner reached home on a sacrifice fly by Zack Will. Justin Sierra and Brelon Harden scored on an RBI double to right-center by George Rosales.  
 
	- The Mount responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning.  
 
	- Verga homered over the left-field fence in the top of the fifth, making it 9-1.  
 
	- After two scoreless innings, Sierra added another run on a sacrifice fly by Rosales, and Will scored off D'Amato's RBI single to left field.  
 
	- The Mountaineers scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-3.  
 
	- Sosa and Ruscitti added two runs in the top of the ninth to finish the game with 13 runs and 12 safe hits.  
 
	- The Mount scored a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough to catch up to FDU. 
 
Inside the box 
	- Nick Evangelista earned his first win by going 7.1 innings, striking out four, and allowing only one run.  
 
	- D'Amato went 2-4 with three RBIs and a home run. 
 
	- Rosales registered three RBIs and a double. 
 
	- Sosa finished 2-4 with two runs, two RBIs, a double and a home run. 
 
Next up  
The Knights return to the E.T. Straw Family Stadium tomorrow for game two of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., with action airing live on NEC Front Row.
