TEANECK, N.J. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (2-10, 0-0 NEC) dropped an afternoon matchup against the Monmouth Hawks (6-5, 0-0 MAAC) 6-2 at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex Tuesday.
How it happened
- Monmouth started the scoring in the second inning, bringing home two runners to make it 2-0.
- In the top of the third, the Hawks hit a home run to extend their lead, 3-0.
- Moving on to the sixth inning, Monmouth scored a run on an RBI single.
- Joan Sosa hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-1.
- The Hawks hit a second home run in the top of the seventh, and an RBI double in the eighth.
- In the last inning, Jack Giovenco hit an RBI double to the left line, bringing Zack Will to home plate, cutting the deficit 6-2.
Inside the box
- Giovenco went 2-for-3, collecting an RBI double and a walk.
- Sosa registered an RBI single and a home run.
- Tom Ruscitti with two stolen bases.
- Zack Will sent 1-for-4, scoring one run.
- Justin Sierra registered a walk and one hit.
- Christopher Mattioli struck out three in 1.2 innings pitched, while Michael DiMartino recorded three strikeouts in 1.1 innings.
