Box Score 2 TOWSON, MD. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (3-11, 0-0 NEC) earned a doubleheader split at Towson (4-11, 0-0 CAA), dropping the opener 9-6 and winning game two 12-5 on Friday at John B. Schuerholz Park.
How it happened
Game One: FDU 6, TOWSON 9
- The Tigers scored the first three runs of the contest and held that lead through the first four innings of play.
- FDU responded in the fourth inning with a run by Hunter D'Amato to make it 3-1.
- In the top of the fifth, George Rosales scored from an RBI double to left field by TJ Werner.
- Justin Sierra, who finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs and one run, hit a three-run homer to left-center in the top of the fifth to give the Knights the lead 5-3.
- Towson scored three home runs in the bottom of the seventh to regain the lead, 6-3.
- In the eighth inning, Hunter D'Amato scored on an RBI double to left field by David Bordieri Jr.
- The Tigers hit an RBI triple to the left line in the last inning, bringing two runners to home plate. Towson extended its lead 9-5 with one more run from a single to left-center hit.
- Brendan Medoro got the loss, with three unearned runs in the last 1.1 innings pitched.
- Bordieri went 3-for-4, with two RBIs and two doubles.
Game Two: FDU 12, TOWSON 5
- Towson opened the scoring with two runs in the first two innings to extend the lead to 2-0.
- FDU responded in the second inning by tallying one run to cut the deficit, 2-1.
- The Tigers managed to score three runs in the bottom of the second, making the score 5-1.
- The Knights tacked two runs in the third inning. Joan Sosa scored on a wild pitch, and Sierra drove in the second run of the inning to make the score 5-3.
- In the top of the fourth, TJ Werner clobbered his first home run of the day – a two-run shot, which tied the game, 5-5.
- After a scoreless inning, Justin Sierra hit a two-RBI single to right-center, bringing Werner and Zack Will to home to give the Knights the lead, 7-5. Sosa scored another run in the fifth, extending the lead, 8-5.
- George Rosales blasted a solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh.
- The Burgundy and Blue scored two more runs in the top of the eighth to extend the lead, 11-5. Sierra blistered an RBI single to bring Sosa in, followed by another RBI single through the left side from Bordieri to get Sierra back to home plate.
- In the ninth inning, Rosales launched another blast for the second time and made the final score, 12-5.
- Jake Simon picked up the win for the Knights by tossing five innings, not allowing any run in two hits while striking out five. Simon posted a 2.13 ERA.
- Justin Sierra went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored, and a double.
