BROOKLYN, N.Y. - FDU men's volleyball faced St. Francis Brooklyn on Tuesday, falling 3-0 in the teams second encounter with the Terriers this season.
Artem Vetrov led the Knights with ten points, recording a season-high four aces to give the Knights an edge in a pair of tight points.
Jack Lydon followed with eight kills, adding seven digs towards FDU's defensive effort.
Anchoring the Knights with 21 assists and seven digs was
Rui Fernandes at setter. Fernandes also added three kills, hitting a .400 average.
How it Happened
Set One
Jack Lydon commanded the Knights on offense, opening the match with four consecutive kills as FDU trailed 7-4. With three kills and a service ace by
Artem Vetrov, the Knights cut the deficit to three before closing the set 25-21.
Set Two
Set two was a tight battle as the Knights established their first lead of the match off back-to-back service aces by Vetrov. The Terriers responded with a 6-2 run to knot the score at 13 before adding a series of kills to take the set, 25-18.
Set Three
As St. Francis Brooklyn led 5-3 in the third set, the Knights gained momentum off Vetrov's fourth ace of the day to level the score at eight. The Terriers would reclaim control on a five-point run, carrying the lead to close the set 25-18.
Next Up
The Knights return to the Rothman Center on Friday for the first time since February 20. The team will host a pair of weekend matchups against American International on Friday and Princeton on Saturday.
