Three Knights Secure Season Highs as Men's Volleyball Falls at D'Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Lorenzo Bonomo, Artem Vetrov and Christian Ramirez secured season highs on Friday as the Knights fell, 3-1, at D'Youville on Friday in the first of a pair of weekend matchups in upstate New York.
 
How it Happened
  • The Knights dominated in the first set, dishing out a pair of service aces to take an early 7-2 lead. With seven kills, three aces and a pair of blocks, the Knights established a double-digit lead that they would carry to close the set 25-17.
  • On a 5-0 run, the Saints came out hot, establishing their largest lead of the match at 23-16 to force an FDU timeout. A final kill capped the set in DYU's favor, 25-17.
  • D'Youville jumped out to a 9-2 advantage, forcing the Knights to respond with a 8-1 run with a pair of kills by Jack Lydon to take control of the set. With nine kills, the Saints managed to tie the game, taking the set to a 27th point.
  • The teams traded points to 18 in the fourth set, till a four-point spurt by the Saints broke open a gap. The Saints extended their lead with a pair of kills by Jacob Malak to drop the Knights in the final set, 25-20. 
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Three Knights recorded season highs as Lorenzo Bonomo led the Knights with a career-best 14 points, recording ten kills, three aces and a pair of blocks. 
  • Artem Vetrov secured 13.5 points of his own with a career-high 11 kills.
  • Christian Ramirez notched a season-high four blocks to lead FDU's defense.
  • Rui Fernandes anchored the Knights with 19 assists, adding a kill, an ace and two blocks for 3.5 points.
