Baseball Totals 10 Hits in Loss Against Albany

TEANECK, N.J. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (1-7, 0-0 NEC) dropped an afternoon matchup against the Albany Great Danes (5-3, 0-0 AE) 12-7 at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex Wednesday. 

How it happened

  • Joey Kosowsky started for the Knights.  
  • Albany hit a home run in the opening inning to take the lead, followed by two more runs. In the bottom of the first Justin Sierra blistered an RBI single to bring Joan Sosa in.  
  • In the second inning, George Rosales registered a single to left field and allowed Tommy Verga to score, making it 2-3. In the same inning, William Pope tied the game on a wild pitch and Rosales scored off a sac fly to left field by Tom Ruscitti to make it 4-3. 
  • Albany scored on a double. The teams tied 4-4 in the top of the third. 
  • FDU took the lead again in the top of the fourth. Ruscitti doubled to score Brelon Harden and in the following at-bat, Hunter D'Amato hit a double to score Ruscitti, making it 6-4. 
  • Albany responded with three runs in the top of the fifth and an RBI double in the top of the seventh.  
  • Verga hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, making the score 7-8. 
  • In the top of the eighth, the Great Danes extended their lead 12-7.

Inside the box 

  • Rich Racobaldo struck out four in two innings of work, while Jake Simon recorded four strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
  • Verga went 2-4 with a home run, two runs and one RBI. 
  • Ruscitti doubled once and registered two RBIs. 
  • Verga, Pope, and Rosales with three stolen bases. 
  • Sosa, Sierra, Pope, and Rosales each registered a walk. 

Next up

FDU gets ready to host Manhattan for a three-game series at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The series opener is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 2. Saturday and Sunday's game are set for 1 p.m.
