TEANECK, N.J. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (4-15, 0-0 NEC) fell, 7-2, to University of Massachusetts (5-4-1, 0-0 A10) on Saturday afternoon at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.
How it happened
- UMASS jumped to an early 1-0 lead, after scoring a home run in the top of the second inning.
- After a scoreless third inning, the Knights responded with a run by Joan Sosa on a Tom Ruscitti's sacrifice fly to tie the game up at 1-1.
- In the top of the fifth, the Minutemen regained the lead after a run on a sacrifice fly and a two-run homer, making it 4-1.
- UMASS added another home run in the sixth.
- In the seventh inning, the Minutemen scored two more runs, extending their lead, 7-1.
- Brelon Harden scored a run in the bottom of the eighth on a ground out by Justin Sierra, but it was not enough to catch up to UMASS.
Inside the box
- Jude Baxt took the loss, allowing three runs, two hits, two walks and no strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched. Rich Racobaldo closed out the game allowing one hit and striking out one.
- Sosa went 2-for-4 with a run.
- Sierra went 2-for-4, adding two doubles, and one RBI.
- Luke Cantwell, Tommy Verga, Hunter D'Amato and Zack Will also recorded hits for FDU.
