Baseball Hosts UMASS for Three-Game Series

TEANECK, N.J. - This weekend, the Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (2-10, 0-0 NEC) hosts the UMASS (4-4-1, 0-0 A10) as the Knights battle the Minutemen in a three-game series starting Friday, March 18, at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.   

Due to weather Saturday, the series is scheduled to start with a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Game two immediately follows in a seven-inning game. FDU and UMASS will play the series finale on Sunday at 12 p.m.

  • Jack Giovenco holds the highest batting average on the team with a .385 recording 5 hits in 13 at-bats. Justin Sierra registers 19 hits, the most for FDU. He holds 12 RBIs and 13 runs. Tommy Verga holds ten RBIs with four home runs, 12 hits and eight runs.  
  • Pitcher Jake Simon has a 3.29 in 13.2 innings pitched, striking out 13.  Cooper Symmons sits with 3.37 in 2.2 innings pitched, striking out four.   
  • Joey Kosowsky leads the team in strikeouts with 17 in 18.1 innings pitched.  

Scouting UMASS  

  • UMASS enters the game with a 4-4-1 record. The Minutemen hold a batting average of .228 and a total of 72 hits, 56 runs, and 50 RBIs.  
  • UMASS' pitchers hold a 5.14 ERA and 76 strikeouts.    
  • Last time out, UMASS recorded a win against UMBC, 10-5. Last weekend, the Minutemen lost 2-1 in a three-game series over Penn State.
