Box Score ITHACHA, N.Y. -The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team (0-1, 0-0 NEC) dropped its first season match to Cornell (6-0, 0-0 ivy), losing 0-7 at the Reis Tennis Center on Friday.
The loss moved Fairleigh Dickinson to 0-1 in 2022, while Cornell climbed to 6-0.
The match began with doubles play. In the No. 1 spot, Teodors Pukse and Justas Trainauskas dropped their match to Alafia Ayeni and Vladislav Melnic, 1-6. The Big Red duo Nathan Mao and Adit Sinha defeated Thomas Linley and Taiga Koyama 6-2. The final doubles match went to Cornell as Evan Bynoe and Pietro Rimondini defeated sophomore Arjun Sriram and fifth year Moric Budinszky, with a 6-2 win.
To start off singles play, Teodors Pukse lost to Vladislav Melnic in the No. 1 spot, 1-6, 2-6. Clinching the overall match for the Big Red was Nathan Mao against Fernando Tardin in the No. 6 spot, winning 6-1, 6-3.
Up next, FDU will go on the road to take on Binghamton this Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3:45 p.m at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
