GREENSBORO, N.C. - The No. 12 Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team bolster their status on the national stage this weekend as the Knights took home some hardware following the Stallings Invitational, hosted by No. 6 North Carolina A&T. FDU finished third in the team standings.
Beginning on Friday, February 25, with four Baker total pinfall matches, the Knights took down Belmont Abbey, 1,040-800, before falling to the host Aggies by just 40 pins, 1,032-992.
Mike LoPresti's side would come back strong to finish-off 3-0 in the remaining matches on the day knocking off No. 14 Delaware State, 918-904, No. 4 Vanderbilt, 953-943 and No. 16 Eastern Shore in a 73-pin victory, 975-902. The Knights' comeback victory over the Commodores was the largest Baker format scoring deficit (more than 90 pins) in a final game in program history, an impressive feat given the Knights' 20 seasons as a Division I program.

On day two the Burgundy and Blue's win streak continued with three traditional scoring victories over Florida A&M, 987-785, Tusculum, 945-851, and Howard, 1,023-723. FDU would fall to No. 2 Sam Houston in the final matchup of the afternoon, 952-945.
Facing familiar foes to close-out the event, FDU toppled fellow Northeast Conference member No. 10 Mount St. Mary's in six Baker match play games, 4-2, followed by wins over the Hornets in straight games (4-0) and ending on a high note with a redemption victory over the Bearkats in a battle that went the distance, a seven-game thriller won by the Burgundy and Blue 4-3.
This weekend was full of outstanding play, clutch performances and big wins. However, it was our team resiliency that sticks out to me," said LoPresti. "The way we ground it out, battled to the last shot, and pulled out matches that were destined for defeat, was profound. It indicates how we've become an exceptionally tough team to beat; and now that we're in the home stretch of our long season, we couldn't have have picked a better time for this to happen."

As a team, FDU logged near-even scores in traditional (4,878) and Baker (both formats, 4,824) for a team-total of 13,177 pins on the weekend.
The Knights now gear-up for the final NEC meet of the regular season which will begin on Saturday, March 5, and conclude on Sunday, March 6, in Bethlehem, Pa.
