Scouting the Red FlashÂ
SFU will meet the Knights following a 69-64 loss at Merrimack on Saturday. The Red Flash encountered FDU in late December as SFU dropped a 65-47 decision in Stratis Arena. The team currently ranks sixth in NEC standings on a 6-6 conference record.
Following their trip to Hackensack, SFU picked up five straight wins before taking a 24 point loss to Wagner in late January. Led by Keila Whittington as head coach, the Red Flash roster features Jenna Mastellone as the team's leading scorer. The graduate student guard averages 10.4 points per game, recording a career-high 29 points against Merrimack on Saturday.
As a team, SFU averages 52.7 points per game, shooting a .372 clip from the floor. The team ranks second in the conference in rebounds with an average 35.9 boards per game.
Scouting the Knights
FDU continues to lead the conference on an 11-1 record, the team's best conference run in program history. The Knights picked up their eighth-straight win on Saturday in a 72-35 win against CCSU at home. Tallying an average 63 points per game, the team has dropped eight of 12 conference opponents by double digits this season.
Madison Stanley secured her third consecutive NEC Player of the Week honors on Monday after becoming the 19th Knight in program history to surpass the 1,000 point milestone. The graduate student led the Knights with 13 points and 11 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season. Dahomée Forgues, Devyn Scott and Aniya Bell each contributed double-digit points to drop the Blue Devils in a dominant win.
The team ranks fourth in the conference in field goal accuracy, shooting .400 from the floor. In FDU's last meeting with the Red Flash, the team recorded a season-best .511 clip.
