BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - No. 10 FDU women's bowling now boasts three-straight Northeast Conference Bowlers of the Week after junior
Julianna Spina became the third Knight in as many weeks to earn the honor, as announced by the NEC Wednesday afternoon.
Spina powered the Knights, now 12-2 in conference action, to a 7-0 weekend against league opponents at the second NEC meet of the season held this past weekend over two days at Bowlero Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick, N.J. The East Islip, N.Y. product led all NEC bowlers in total pinfall over the seven traditional contests with 1,499 downed pins, averaging 214.14 in seven games. The righty bowled just one sub-200 game en route to finishing atop the pack last week. Spina through a conference-leading 42 strikes in 70 attempts, a .600 clip in 70 frames bowled.
Joining the duo of seniors
Cameron Spring (Nov. 16) and
Ashley Sham (Nov. 23) who earned the last two NEC Bowler of the Week accolades, the Arkansas State transfer Spina averaged 9.30 pins per first ball, showing her power roll FDU to seven wins against league foes. With a high game of 247 on the weekend, Spina ranks second in the NEC on the season in individual strike percentage, striking 46.9 percent of the time.
Spina is joined by Sham on the NEC Prime Performer list for the meet. The Lititz, Pa. native Sham finished fifth in the NEC, averaging over 20 pins per frame in traditional action.
FDU next competes after the New Year when the Knights take part in the USBC Viking Classic on January 15.
