HACKENSACK, N.J. - The FDU Knights (7-2, 0-0) meet up with America East foe UMass Lowell (0-7, 0-0) where they won 62-48. The Knights struggled in the first half where they shot only 28% in the second quarter. FDU went into the half down by five points. The Knights have not faced a halftime deficit since their season opener at Marquette. This was a good test for a Knights team who has started the season with multiple tremendous performances. Despite the halftime deficit, they came out and outscored the River Hawks in the third quarter 13-7 and then put UMass in a hole they could not climb out of in the fourth quarter. The final quarter saw the Knights go on a 22-9 run which included 61.5% shooting from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point land. The Knights were led by
Dahomée Forgues who had a huge second half and scored 12 points in the final two periods including the first seven Knights points in the fourth quarter.
- Forgues led the Knights with 16 points and nine rebounds. Her scoring outburst came on an efficient 7-for-11 from the field.
- Chloe Wilson had a nice outing where she added 16 points herself and eight rebounds.
- Freshman guard Eniya Scott performed well in her second career home game posting 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
FDU 17, UMass Lowell 10
- Celia Carbonell opened the scoring with a nice back door baseline cut for a layup. The play was assisted by Madeline Selvaggi.
- At the media timeout, the Knights led 8-6. Sierra DeAngelo led the Knights with four points.
- Scott scored the last five points of the quarter for the Knights.
FDU 27, UMass Lowell 32
- At the media timeout, the Knights held a slight two-point lead, 21-19.
- Out of the media timeout, the River Hawks took their first lead of the day with free throws and a triple. They led 25-23.
- The Knights got outscored 22-10 in the quarter and trailed at halftime.
FDU 40, UMass Lowell 39
- Forgues opened the half with a huge three-pointer.
- Both teams matched five points apiece at the time of the media timeout.
- The Knights outscored the River Hawks 13-7 to regain the lead in the quarter.
FDU 62, UMass Lowell 48
- The Knights had a huge quarter led by Forgues who scored the first seven points of the fourth. She finished with 16 on the day.
- FDU outscored UMass 22-9 in the quarter.
- The Burgundy and Blue shot 62% in the quarter while holding the River Hawks to 1-for-10 shooting from the field.
- FDU will have nearly a week off to prepare for Big East foe Georgetown which they take on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m. The game will take place at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center and will be aired on NEC Front Row.
