Philly Special: FDU Races Past Saint Joseph's Saturday, Highlighted by Roberts' and Singleton's 24 Points

PHILADELPHIA - FDU men's basketball got back in the win column Saturday in grand fashion as the Burgundy and Blue toppled Saint Joseph's at Hagan Arena 97-80. The Knights, now 4-6, were led by graduate student guards Demetre Roberts and Grant Singleton who each posted 24 points in the contest, tied for the season-high of any Knight in a single game in 2022-23.

After an early 5-0 start, FDU wouldn't look back as the Knights were never down more than three points on Hawk Hill.

  • Singleton was on fire shooting 60 percent from the field to lead FDU with nine points in the first half ahead of Roberts' eight.
  • FDU forced eight turnovers collecting six steals and 11 defensive rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
  • The Knights led by five at the break in a back-and-forth battle which saw the lead change hands three times with 10 ties throughout.
  • Tobin Anderson's Knights got back in a groove in the paint with 18 points inside while on the floor the mark would be 50 percent (16-for-32) from the field.

  • Roberts and sophomore Ansley Almonor were off to the races with a combined 28 points while Singleton and junior Joe Munden Jr. made several key heads-up plays to lift FDU to their first true road win of the campaign.
