Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Can't Overcome Saint Peter's Sunday, Suffer Road Setback

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - FDU men's basketball couldn't climb back all the way after being down 21 points down the backstretch of the opening half. Falling to Saint Peter's 77-63 Sunday, the second-straight road loss for the Knights, FDU couldn't get in a rhythm as the team was held to 20 percent three-point shooting.

Senior Heru Bligen continued to dazzle for FDU, finishing second among all scorers with 16 points, shooting 70 percent from the field. FDU had an early lead as the teams traded buckets in the infant minutes of the game but Saint Peter's would pull away for nearly 35 minutes ahead of the Knights who slip to 3-5 on the season while the Peacocks grabbed their fourth win of the campaign and sit 4-2 on the year.

A cold stretch in the first didn't help the cause as FDU found themselves down 12 at the break. Coming out the half, the Knights kept it tight though Saint Peter's would pull away in the final three minutes to seal the deal on a 14-point victory.

On the positive side, Tobin Anderson's team continued their streak of three or more double-digit scorers with graduate student guards Demetre Roberts and Grant Singelton joining Bligen to combine for 43 of FDU's 63 points (68.3 percent).

Junior Joe Munden Jr. returned to action for the Knights making his first appearance of the season after a battle with injury. The third-year Knight contributed seven points and five boards to the mix.

FDU returns to action on Wednesday, November 30 at 7 p.m. when the Knights head to Hartford at 7 p.m.

The 2022-23 men's basketball season is presented by Bogota Savings Bank.
