The Knights Took Down Davidson To Win Two Of Three Games At The Hostilo Community Classic

SAVANNAH, GA. -  The FDU Knights (4-2, 0-0) took on the Davidson Wildcats (2-4, 0-0) at the Hostilo Community Classic in Savannah, Ga where they won 49-43. FDU came out of the gates slow with Davidson taking a quick 9-2 lead at the media timeout. Midway through the first quarter back-to-back threes from Abby Conklin and Ella Fajardo ignited the Knights offense, and they won the quarter 17-8. NEC Player of the Week Chloe Wilson led the scoring with six points. The Wildcats had another strong start to the second quarter, but the dynamic shooting duo of Conklin and Fajardo once again drilled timely threes to keep the Knights lead at five points. In the final minute of the half the Burgundy and Blue drilled two threes including one at the buzzer by Dahomée Forgues. The third quarter saw Davidson start a comeback where they outscored the Knights 13-7 to bring the game within one point. The fourth quarter became a free throw game where the Knights shot 6-of-8 in the quarter to seal the game. The stifling defense of FDU held the Wildcats to 3-of-18 shooting from three-point land and forced 15 turnovers.
 
Statistical Leaders
  • Wilson picked up her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Forgues pitched in nine points which included drilling 3-of-4 threes she took.
  • Fajardo and Conklin scored 17 combined points and shot 4-of-9 from three.
First Quarter

FDU 17, Davidson 13
  • Davidson started strong scoring the first six points.
  • At the media timeout, things did not look well for the Knights trailing 9-2.
  • A quick 6-0 run with threes from Fajardo and Conklin ignited the Knights.
  • FDU finished the quarter on a 15-4 run.
  • Wilson led the way with six points.
Second Quarter

FDU 29, Davidson 22
  • Davidson started this quarter off fast with a 5-0 run to take an 18-17 lead.
  • With 4:38 remaining the 'Cats used a timeout after Conklin and Fajardo drilled back-to-back threes. The Knights led 23-18
  • In the last minute, DeAngelo and Forgues nailed threes to give FDU a seven-point halftime lead.  
  • FDU went 7-for-13 from three in the first half.
  • The Knights first-half defense forced nine turnovers.
Third Quarter

FDU 36, Davidson 35
  • Slow offensive start for both sides at the media timeout. Nine points combined with FDU leading 34-26.
  • Back-to-back three-pointers from Davidson forced an FDU timeout. The lead was down to three.
  • Wilson had a big quarter scoring all seven of the Knights points.
Fourth Quarter

FDU 49, Davidson 43
  •  At the media timeout, the Knights held onto a small margin over Davidson.
  • The Knights outscored Davidson 13-8 in in the final quarter.
  • Forgues hit a nail in the coffin three down the stretch.
  • FDU sealed the game with free throws to win.
