Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

FDU Falls at Pitt Tuesday Night

PITTSBURGH - Freshman Brayden Reynolds got his homecoming as the Pittsburgh native registered two points in seven minutes in his hometown Tuesday - a shining moment in an 83-61 loss for FDU (3-4, 0-0 NEC) at the Petersen Events Center against Pitt as the Panthers move to 3-3 on the season with the victory. FDU took away numerous positives from the non-conference showdown on ACC Network though 15 turnovers would put the ball in the hands of dangerous Panther shooters, however the home side would throw it away 15 times as well, finishing with a 1-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in the contest.

The Knights' three ball heated up in the second half but a cold stretch coming out of the halftime break down seven hurt the cause as Tobin Anderson's Knights would allow Pitt to shoot 70 percent from inside the arch, allowing 23 two-point field goals in 40 minutes. Three members of the Burgundy and Blue finished in double figures with fifth-year Grant Singleton leading the charge with 11 points as the guard from Sumter, S.C. made his seventh start at FDU Tuesday. He was followed by sophomore Ansley Almonor and senior Heru Bligen's 10 points a piece. FDU has now had three or more players score in double-digits in all seven games in the young campaign.

"I thought they [Pitt] were really impressive," said Anderson. "I thought they really guarded. That's very talented team, I think [Pitt head coach] Jeff's [Capel] done a good job there and it's going to get a whole lot better as the year goes along. I liked their team a lot and they're very talented. And there's good days ahead for these guys."

A turning point in the game, the infant minutes of the second half were pivotal for FDU as FDU couldn't consistently click, coupled with four turnovers from the 16-minute mark to the 11 tick, made things difficult as FDU found themselves down with time moving along.

Pitt's size was a crucial advantage as the Panthers won the battle in the paint 38-22.

Looking ahead after Thanksgiving FDU hits the hardwood at Run Baby Run Arena in Jersey City, N.J. at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 27 to take-on Saint Peter's, fresh off an improbable Elite Eight run last season live on ESPN+.
