Women's Bowling

No. 10 Women's Bowling Defeats No. 2 Vanderbilt in Redemption Victory

CORAM, N.Y. - No. 10 FDU women's bowling recorded two wins Friday as the Knights began the three-day Dezy Strong Classic at Coram Country Lanes hosted by Adelphi. The team took part in five Baker total pinfall matches against top-tier opponents in the tune-up for the Burgundy and Blue before the first Northeast Conference meet of the season which gets underway on November 12.

Inside the Scorecard
  • FDU rolled identical 170s in the first two games against Stephen F. Austin in the tournament opener. The Knights would best the Lumberjacks in the third and fifth games but ultimately fall by six pins.
  • Looking for redemption after falling to the Commodores in last season's NCAA Final Four, the Knights came back out-score the second-ranked team in the nation in all but the first game.
  • Mike LoPresti's Knights finished the day with two matches ending within six points, including one win (Bloomfield).
  • FDU (4,577) currently sits eighth in the team standings while the Penguins lead the field with 5,131 downed pins.
  • The five-time NEC champions averaged 183.1 pins per game.
 
Looking Ahead

Returning to action tomorrow, the Burgundy and Blue take-on five matches in traditional play on Saturday, October 29 beginning with a position matchup against Saint Anselm.
