BROOKLYN, Ny- FDU women's volleyball (10-12, 4-2) fell to St. Francis Brooklyn (9-14, 2-4) in four sets on the road at Genovesi Center. The Terriers delivered throughout the night and kept the Burgundy and Blue out of rhythm.
- Sofia Rampazzo led the team in kills with 13 kills, 13 digs, and two aces followed by Kylie Nott's 12 kills.
- Allegra Rivas had 22 digs.
- Brooklyn controlled the service line with 11 aces to just five for the Knights.
Set 1
- After an ace from Tessa Fisk (6-6), FDU rattled off three points to take the lead at 9-7. St. Francis chipped away at the lead to tie it at 12-12 and play a close set until the end. Sophia Spiridonakos put down a kill to secure the 24th point before a timeout from St. Francis. The Terriers came out of that break to win the set 26-24 with two aces.
- Rampazzo and Spiridonakos each put down three kills.
Set 2
- Extra points were needed to decide the closely fought set. Brooklyn jumped out to an early 9-6 lead in part by back-to-back aces. Down 15-12, FDU took the lead with a four-point spurt and played point-for-point with the Terriers in an exciting set with 15 ties and seven lead changes.
- At 24-22, the Knights had two set points but couldn't put the home team away.
- Brooklyn had set point at 28-27, but FDU would prevail as Tatijana Fucka and Rampazzo put down three kills to win 30-28.
- Fucka put down five kills hitting .714.
- Megan Bushnell, Rampazzo, and Spiridonakos each had an ace for the Knights.
Set 3
- The Terriers bounced back and regained control of the match. After FDU took an early 9-5 lead, St. Francis went on a 5-1 run to to take the lead. After the teams exchanged points, St. Francis went on a five-point run (15-15) to pull ahead 20-15. FDU worked to slowly chip away at that gap but fell short and lost the set 25-20.
Set 4
- After a Terrier service error made kept the Knights within one, St. Francis rattled off six-straight to open a lead and never look back. Following two points by FDU, the Terriers instantly sided out and gained a four-point run to strengthen that gap (18-9) and ensure the win 25-19.
Head coach David Nguyen: "Just not our night. We will regroup and get after it tomorrow."
