FAIRFIELD, CONN. - Women's volleyball fell in straight-sets to reigning NEC champion Sacred Heart on Thursday at the William H. Pitt Center.

• Fueling the Knights was sophomore Madisyn Beirne who tallied 13 kills on a .320 clip.

• Exchange student Pauline Giordano anchored FDU with 19 assists.

How it Happened

• With the score leveled at five in the first set, Sacred Heart established a momentum and ran with it. The Knights fought to close the gap with four kills by Beirne on a .600 clip, but were unsuccessful, dropping the set 25-15.

• The teams traded points to eleven in the second set. On a five-point run, the Pioneers took control, topping FDU 25-18.

• The Pioneers took command early in set three. Maintaining the edge through the rest of the set, Sacred Heart defeated FDU 25-17.
