The FDU women's volleyball team (2-2) battled in their first away game of the season, falling in four sets to the New Hampshire Wildcats (2-2) on the first day of the Holly Young Invitational.

Graduate student Magdalena Maksimovic led the offense with 14 kills followed by Sophomore Madisyn Beirne with 11.

Graduate student Alix Christie deposited eight kills of her own for a .421 clip while contributing four blocks on defense.

After a tight start to the first set, the Knights took control with a series of kills off assists from freshman Hannah Schmidt. The Wildcats responded with a 5-2 run, leveling the score at 24. FDU secured the first set, 26-24, hitting a .344 clip.

The teams traded points through set two, with neither team leading by more than three through the first half. With back-to-back blocks, the Wildcats ran away with the set, dropping the Knights 25-20.

New Hampshire jumped ahead mid-way through the third set and kept up the momentum to secure the set at 25-20.

The back-and-forth trend continued through set four as the Knights put together a total of 13 kills. With FDU trailing 22-21, it was a kill by New Hampshire's Marisa Armer that defeated the Knights.

The Knights return to play tomorrow as they take on Providence at 3:30 p.m. in Durham, N.H. for the second day of the Holly Young Invitational.
