HACKENSACK N.J. - The FDU women's volleyball team (4-6) dropped the NJIT Highlanders (1-8) in a five-set battle at the Rothman Center on Tuesday.

FDU dominated in set one with 15 kills behind assists from Schmidt. Hitting a .400 clip, the Knights took the set 25-14.

The Highlanders took a two-point lead early in the second set and didn't let up. With a final pair of kills by NJIT junior Adriana Goetz-Morales, the Knights fell 25-20.

The Knights maintained control in set three after jumping to an early six-point lead. FDU topped the Highlanders 25-22, holding them to a .189 clip.

NJIT stepped back into control in set four on a four-point run. While the Knights were able to shrink the gap, they fell short and dropped the set 25-20.

The final set was a tight battle. The team's traded points to knot the score at 11. Stingl and Spiridonakos deposited a combined nine kills for a .400 average to secure the set and the match.Â
Next Up
The Knight's will travel to Charlottesville, Va. on Friday where they will compete in the University of Virginia Tournament. Set to compete is host-school Virginia, along with Georgetown and Bellarmine.Â
