Scouting the Rams
Fordham enters this match 1-2-0 and coming off their first win of the season—a 2-1 overtime win at Manhattan. After conceding an early goal to the Jaspers, the Rams responded with an equalizer in the 79', and the winner in OT. Their prior two matches were away losses in which they were held goalless against Colgate and Binghamton. The Rams have been paced by sophomore Alexandra Taylor, who scored the equalizer against Manhattan and leads the Rams with 13 shots and is level with senior Kendall Dandridge for the team lead in shots on goal with five.
Scouting the Knights
The Knights earned their first clean sheet of the season with their 0-0 draw at Saint Joseph's on Thursday, August 26. The shutout was Malene Nielsen's first of her collegiate career, and she was called into action to make eight saves and be an important last line of defense on several set pieces. Freshman Aitana Martínez-Montoya leads the FDU line with eight shots, four on goal, while seniors Gina Steiner and Madelyn Robbins have set the tone and midfield and have logged a pair of shots on goal each.
Coach Teepe's Thoughts
"With us getting a result in our last game, we now hope we can start finding the net and produce a winning result so we can continue to build. While we are banged up, it will be good for the team to keep taking steps forward. Hopefully our game at Fordham will do just that, although we know that it will be tough."
What's Next
Following their trip into NYC, FDU will return to the Garden State to square off against BIG EAST foe Seton Hall in South Orange. The match will take place on Thursday, September 2, at 6 p.m., and will be streamed live on the Pirates Sports Network on FloFC.
