TEANECK, NJ - In only his second start of the season, junior
Brendan Medoro turned in a great pitching performance to propel FDU through seven innings. The Knights (8-23, 7-17) needed a crucial RBI base hit in the top of the 9th inning by freshman
Hunter D'Amato to break a tie and hold off Wagner (9-21, 6-18) 6-5 on Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened:

st Inning:
- FDU started off the game with a Mike Veit walk
- Justin Sierra had a single that was misplayed and allowed Veit to advance to third and Sierra to reach second
- James Donlon produced the first RBI of the game with a groundout that allowed Veit to score
- In the bottom half of the first Wagner responded with a single and then a double which tied the game at one

rd Inning:
- The Seahawks broke the tie by loading the bases with a walk and then two bunt singles
- Wagner's Jared Gillen produced another RBI this series with a sacrifice fly to center field

th Inning:
- FDU retook the lead as they took advantage of several fielding miscues by the Seahawks defense
- David Bordieri Jr. began the rally with a leadoff walk
- Michael Gruber laid down a bunt to advance Bordieri Jr. and the catcher bobbled the ball allowing Gruber to reach safely
- TJ Werner singled through the left side loading the bases
- Hunter D'Amato hit a sharp ground ball off the glove of the third baseman which scored Bordieri Jr. and Gruber, giving the Knights a 3-2 edge

th Inning:
- The Knights extended their lead and made Wagner pay for several defensive errors
- D'Amato began the rally with a sharp single to left field
- Then Donlon hit a hard ground ball to the first baseman who had the ball bounce off his glove and was unable to get an out
- Levinson then got another RBI in the series as a line drive up the middle deflected off the pitcher and then through the legs of the second baseman to make the score 4-2
- Back-to-back walks to Tommy Verga and Bordieri Jr. pushed across the fifth run for FDU
- In the bottom half of the inning, Wagner responded
- A one-out single ended the day for Medoro
- The Seahawks ripped off consecutive doubles cutting the FDU lead to a run
- With a runner on third, the home plate umpire called a balk on reliever Tristan Plescia, bringing home the runner from third and tying the game
9
th Inning:
- It would be another error by Wagner that would help the Knights generate a run and another lead
- Werner grounded to the shortstop who overthrew the first baseman allowing Werner to reach safely
- Veit sacrificed Werner over to second giving way to D'Amato
- D'Amato lined a single to left field driving in Werner and the go-ahead run for the Knights
- Nicolas Kythreotis came on in the bottom of the 9th and closed out the game for the Knights, getting the hot-hitting Jared Gillen to fly out to end the game
Inside the Box Score:
- In his second appearance in the series, Medoro did not get a decision but went 7.1 innings giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out five
- D'Amato now leads FDU in hits on the season
- Kythreotis picked up his first collegiate save

FDU returns to the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex for a three-game series against LIU (15-12, 13-10) on Friday, May 14 at 3 p.m. Senior day for FDU will take place prior to the start of Saturday's game that begins at 1 p.m.
