TEANECK, N.J. - Freshman
Tommy Verga had his best game as a Knight delivering three hits and four RBI. However, it was not enough to hold off LIU (16-12, 14-10) as FDU (8-24, 7-18) fell Friday afternoon by a score of 7-5.
How it Happened:

st Inning:
- LIU started the game with a two-out two-strike double, which drove in a run
- FDU responded with a solo home run by Tom Ruscitti to center field to level the score at one

nd Inning:
- Brad Levinson hit a leadoff double down the left field line
- Verga then followed Levinson with a two-run home run beyond center field to give the Knights their first lead of the game
4
th Inning:
- The Knights started the inning with another hit as Justin Sierra lined to right field and the LIU right fielder couldn't complete the diving catch
- Sierra then stole second and advanced to third on a groundout by Levinson
- Verga drove in Sierra with a groundout to the third baseman for his third RBI of the game and extending the Knights lead to 4-1

th Inning:
- LIU retook the lead with six runs in their half
- The Sharks started the rally by getting hit by a pitch
- A single and then a walk loaded the bases
- Another single this time through the right side past a diving Hunter D'Amato brought in two runs
- FDU would get the second out with a groundout to shortstop but that brought in the third run of the inning, which tied the game
- LIU would take the lead with a single to center field
- LIU extended the lead with another single in the inning extending the lead to three runs
- FDU cut back into the lead as Levinson was hit by a pitch with two outs
- Verga then picked up his fourth RBI on the afternoon with a double off the right field fence
Next Up:
On Saturday at 12:30 p.m., FDU will recognize nine seniors on Senior Day:

Jake Ellowitz,
Brad Levinson,
Tristan Plescia,
Chris Quijano,
Tony Socci, and
Mike Veit. Then FDU will face LIU in game two of the three game series with first pitch at 1:00 p.m.
