BRIDGEPORT, C.T. -  FDU (6-21, 5-15) lost to Sacred Heart (16-18, 11-6) on Saturday afternoon 14-4.

How it Happened:

• Sacred Heart jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning and didn't look back
• In the 2nd inning, FDU would plate their first run following a James Donlon double and a Tommy Verga single, which drove in Donlon
• SHU added four runs in the bottom half of the 2nd 
• The Knights would answer in the 3rd inning after back-to-back singles by Hunter D'Amato and Justin Sierra, and then a Donlon single would drive in D'Amato
• In the bottom of the 3rd, Sacred Heart extended their lead to 12-2
• FDU had an opportunity in the 5th inning to cut into the deficit
  • The Knights loaded the bases and were able to get one run across due to a throwing error
  • They would then load the bases again and Tommy Verga walked which brought in the second run of the inning
  • SHU escaped any further damage leaving three FDU runners on base and eliminating any comeback attempt
• SHU would tack on two more runs in the 7th inning

FDU will return on Sunday for the final game of the series against Sacred Heart. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
