SMITHFIELD, R.I - After having Friday's game postponed due to COVID-19 protocols, the Knights baseball team (3-13, 2-9) took on the Bryant Bulldogs (13-9-1, 10-1) for two games Saturday.
Game 1: FDU 0 | Bryant 14
- A dominant pitching performance by Bryant was too much for the Knights to overcome as Bryant pitching combined for 17 strikeouts
- Senior pitcher Chris Quijano (0-2) got the start for FDU and went three innings giving up five runs
- Senior pitcher Aaron Cohn came on in relief and went three innings as well while surrendering three earned runs
Game 2: FDU 10 | Bryant 19
- FDU responded to the Game 1 shutout, by opening Game 2 with a home run in the first inning by senior James Donlon (4)
- Graduate student Marc Bisogno (0-3) took the loss for the Knights after starting the game and going four innings
- After Bryant scored three in their half of the first, FDU scratched across a run in the second, capitalizing on poor fielding by the Bulldogs
- In the third inning Bryant struck again with two home runs expanding their lead to 6-2
- The Knights answered in the fourth with an RBI single by Brad Levinson and then again in the fifth with a Hunter D'Amato RBI single driving home Mike Veit
- FDU crossed two more in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to one, but Bryant answered with four more runs in the bottom half of the inning to extend their lead
- The seventh inning saw both teams score three more runs apiece. For FDU Levinson would drive in another run, while teammates Justin Sierra and Tom Ruscitti each had an RBI
- Bryant scored five more runs in the eighth and the Knights answered with one run in the ninth
Game 2 Inside the Box Score:
- Junior Tom Ruscitti led the Knights with three RBI giving him a team-leading 13 on the season
- Levinson had his third multi-hit game of the season and picked up two RBI, a single-game season-high
- Sophomore Justin Sierra had his best offensive game of the season scoring three runs and stealing two bases both of which are career highs
