Men's Soccer's Bacharach Named NEC Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. - Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer freshman Hugo Bacharach has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Bacharach played all 90 minutes for the Burgundy and Blue on March 1 in the NEC opener at Sacred Heart, scoring the first Knights' goal of the season with approximately two minutes remaining in the match. A defender, Bacharach played spectacularly for FDU and had a major role in holding the Pioneers scoreless on their home pitch in the 1-0 win.

In addition to being named Rookie of the Week, Bacharach was recognized as an NEC Prime Performer. On the season, he started in all three matches thus far and played for the full 90 in each.

Head Coach Seth Roland said, "I'm very happy for Hugo, and it's well deserved. He was outstanding defensively vs. Sacred Heart breaking up plays and defusing their attacks. Topping it off with an emphatic header to win the game with two minutes to go sealed a great start to his NEC career."

The Knights head to LIU on Monday, March 15, as the 2020-21 fall-to-spring season continues.
