Scouting the Knights
FDU (0-0-0) was selected to finish second in the NEC Preseason Poll after a 2019 season in which the Burgundy and Blue reached the NEC Championship Game. With last season's NEC Tournament appearance, FDU has reached seven straight Conference Tournaments. In last season's game against Hofstra, junior
Lea Egner scored FDU's goal in a close 2-1 defeat. The Knights bring back 18 players from last year and the 2021 roster consists of six freshmen, four sophomores, seven juniors, and seven seniors. Senior
Cassandra Marcoux appeared in three games last year and had a goals against average of 2.19 and is in line to replace
Amanda Fitzgerald, who graduated. The Knights will also have six of the top seven point scorers from last year, including senior
Alexiane Marquis who lead the team with 16 points. Egner who also reached double-digits with 11 points will be back for FDU. First team All-NEC junior defender
Christa Waterman also returns to a defense that only allowed 0.90 goals per night.
Coach Teepe's Thoughts
"As we get ready to start this season, I am excited by the challenges it will bring. There is a true sense of the unknown as each team we play will have gone on different paths to get to where they are. You will not be able to take one minute of any game for granted, so hopefully our players will be ready for that challenge. After a great run last year, I know the team is looking to try and take that next step forward."
What's Next
After Thursday's match at Hofstra, FDU will host its first home contest of the season at University Stadium on Tuesday, March 2 against Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m.
