Women's Bowling Sweeps Saint Francis (Pa.); Extends Win Streak to Eight

FDU has now won six matches in a row against the Red Flash

MT. JOY, Pa. – The No. 20 Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team (17-2, 8-1 NEC) swept conference opponent Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday to put a ribbon on an impressive open to Northeast Conference action.

In Baker match play, FDU raced to a 4-0 victory over the Red Flash with the Knights bowling over 200 in the final three games of the four played. The Burgundy and Blue took the fourth and final game of the match, 221-210.

Moving to traditional scoring, the Knights edged out a 1,117-1,070 win over SFU with four Knights bowling over 200. Sophomore Cameron Spring, senior Aimee Sherman, redshirt freshman Julianna Spina and senior Jenna Henderson bowled 238, 213, 235 and 244, respectively, in the match.

To close out the weekend in Mt. Joy, FDU fought to a 1,086-977 Baker total pinfall win over Saint Francis with the Knights collectively bowling over 200 in each of the final four games played after pulling off a 12-pin advantage following the first frame, 191-179.

Following the day's events, head coach Mike LoPresti said, "With the lanes playing a bit more forgiving, we took advantage of it and scored extremely well in all three matches today. We got lined in early and for the majority of the match we maintained it.

He continued, "I'm extremely proud of how our team performed this weekend. This team is handling this unconventional season exceptionally well and our performance on the lanes has been stellar. I must say that I tip my cap to the SFU squad. They're a very aggressive team that threw a ton of strikes at us. We were very fortunate to outscore them, as two of the three matches were decided late."

FDU returns to the lanes on Friday, February 26 at 9:30 AM to begin the second consecutive weekend of NEC play in North Brunswick, N.J. with a bout against Mount St. Mary's. On Saturday, February 27, the Knights will take on LIU before ending the third week of the season with a Sunday showdown against St. Francis (Bklyn.) on February 28.
