Men's Basketball Ready for Home Opener vs. Fairfield Wednesday Night

FDU played the first eight games of the 2021-22 season on the road

HACKENSACK, N.J. - After embracing the "road warrior" mentality preached by head coach Greg Herenda playing eight-consecutive road games to begin the 2021-22 season, the Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (0-8, 0-0 NEC) will finally get to take their home court when the Knights welcome Fairfield (7-3, 2-0 MAAC) to the banks of the Hackensack for a non-conference matchup at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center on Wednesday, December 15. Tip-off live on NEC Front Row is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Scouting the Stags
Fairfield allowed a season-low 47 points to roll past host William & Mary, 70-47, on Sunday afternoon in Williamsburg. The Stags' offense was led by 15 points apiece from Taj Benning and Caleb Green to seal their fourth consecutive victory. Benning and Green's 15 points apiece paced an offense that saw 10 different Stags put points on the board. Benning also shared the team high with six rebounds, while Green distributed a team-best four assists. Allan Jeanne-Rose also reached double figures with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Jake Wojcik added nine points and Jesus Cruz and Supreme Cook each netted six. Cook matched Benning's six rebounds with Green and Zach Crisler each hauling in four as Fairfield won the battle on the boards, 35-31.

Scouting the Knights

Playing in the City of Brotherly Love for the second time in as many games, the Knights headed down the Turnpike for a matchup with La Salle after previously taking on Drexel in Philadelphia. Falling to the Explorers 81-55, the Knights were led by junior Brandon Rush's 19 points. Newcomer Oscar Berry earned his first start for the Burgundy and Blue with the Melbourne, Australia native contributing eight points, one steal and a team- leading four rebounds. FDU scored 38 points in the paint in head coach Greg Herenda's first game back after missing the team's previous three games with a non-COVID related illness.

FDU returns to the road on Saturday, December 18, as the Knights visit Charlottesville to face the 2019 National Champion Virginia Cavaliers on ACC Network at 2 p.m.
