No. 8 Women's Bowling Concludes First NEC Meet of 2021-22

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. - No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling (10-10, 3-4 NEC) concluded action in the first Northeast Conference meet of the young campaign on Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7, at Bowlero Carolier Lanes in the Garden State.

Through the team's first two matches, FDU went 1-1, falling to No. 11 Duquesne four games to two in Baker match play scoring before sweeping Saint Francis U (Pa.) 4-0.

On day two, the Burgundy and Blue opened with a 4-1 loss to No. 12 Sacred Heart before taking a 4-1 win of their own over Wagner. The Knights would close-out the day with a 4-2 loss to No. 13. Mount St. Mary's

Mike LoPresti's Knights would finish the day 2-2 in their four conference-opening matches following another 4-0 win over No. 23 LIU and a defeat at the hands of St. Francis Brooklyn by a 4-2 tally.

Graduate student Jenna Henderson would lead the way for the Knights over the weekend filling nearly 91 percent of her frames and racking up a team-high 46 strikes over the two-day meet. Henderson also went five-for-five in makeable multi-pin spare attempts. The 2020-21 NEC Bowler of the Year rolled 72 frames over the course of the Knights' seven matches bowled.

Following the event, LoPresti said, "We certainly did not play at our best this weekend and we're all pretty frustrated at our struggling start of our young season. I feel it's our high expectations that's feeding our frustration and the tough schedule hasn't made it any easier" He continued, "We need to avoid focusing on obstacles and refocus on our goals and methods for growth. After a few adjustments and some minor changes, I'm confident we'll get back on track."

FDU's season continues on Saturday, November 13, and Sunday, November 14, at the Falcon Fall Classic hosted by Felician at Lodi Lanes in Lodi, N.J.
