Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Falls to Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (2-4, 0-0 NEC) would falter against the Manhattan Jaspers (4-2, 0-0 MAAC), 69-55, on Sunday afternoon in Manhattan.

How it Happened

  • The Knights stumbled a touch out of the gates, but a Celia Carbonell three to end the first quarter kept the distance at just seven points, with FDU holding the momentum.
  • Madison Stanley hit a three to open the second quarter and cut the deficit to four points, but a quick 9-0 Jaspers run pushed Manhattan back in front at the half, where they held a 41-28 advantage.
  • The third quarter was the Knights opportunity to charge back, and charge they did. Capped by a Devyn Scott buzzer-beater, FDU finished the quarter with an 18-6 run and trimmed the lead down from 19 points to a seven-point deficit.
  • FDU would continue their push back in the fourth quarter, trimming the lead down to four with a Chloe Wilson three-pointer. However, the Jaspers would pull away and secure the 69-55 victory.

Inside the Box Score

  • Aniya Bell made a big impact in her first start of the season. After finishing with 11 points off the bench against NJIT, Bell nearly equaled that in the first half alone, scoring ten points in the first half of play. She would finish with 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting.
  • The FDU effort was supplemented by 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks from graduate student Madison Stanley, as well as ten points, six rebounds and three assists from Devyn Scott
  • Chloe Wilson's career week would continue as she would match another career-high with four steals during the game. Dahomée Forgues also dished out a team-high four assists to lead the Knights in that category.

The Knights come back to the friendly confines of the Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center as they host Binghamton on Wednesday, December 1, at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
