NEWARK, N.J. - Led by sophomore newcomer Sêbastien Lamaute's 14 points, the Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team's (0-4, 0-0 NEC) effort on Wednesday at the Wellness and Events Center fell just short as the Knights fell to NJIT (2-2, 0-0 AE) 62-54.
How it HappenedÂ
- Lamaute posted a single-game high 14 points as he helped pace the Knights who held the lead for the bulk of the game
- Junior Daniel Rodriguez earned his first start of the season and posted seven points, one assist and one rebound in 14 minutes of action.
- FDU shot 71.43 percent from the free throw stripe in the first half.
Inside the Box ScoreÂ
- FDU's lead changed four times in Wednesday's game.
- Off NJIT's 11 turnovers, 10 FDU points came the other way.
Coach Herenda's Thoughts
"We came out and executed our game early but then we just were not able to execute on the offensive end; NJIT's defense has a lot to do with that but we were sloppy with the ball and our decisions."
"I cannot complain about our defense very much. We held a good offensive team to 62 points in their building but obviously the free throw line was the difference in the game."
"This group is getting better on a daily basis and that's all we can do right now. We had a number of bright spots today - Seb [Lamaute], Ib [
Ibrahim Wattara] and
Antoine Jacks all showed that they belong. It's just a matter of time but these are the games we have to battle through and we will. Our time will come - we just have continue to keep digging."
