Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rush Drops 27, Knights Effort Falls Short at Princeton Sunday

PRINCETON, N.J. - Adding 27 points in his fifth contest of the season, junior Brandon Rush exploded in Jadwin Gymnasium, though the Knights' effort against the Tigers would fall short as the Fairliegh Dickinson men's basketball team (0-5, 0-0 NEC) fell to Princeton (5-2, 0-0 IVY), 89-79. FDU was without head coach Greg Herenda who missed the game due to a non-COVID related illness. Pete Lappas served as acting head coach for the contest.

How it Happened
  • Junior Daniel Rodriguez opened the scoring affair early on, giving FDU the lead for 1:36.
  • Brandon Rush helped fuel the Knights' offense in the second half as the Warrensville, Ohio junior was on a 5-for-6 personal run from deep when he came off the floor with 10:12 to play in regulation.
  • Junior co-captain Devon Dunn contributed 12 points and a rebound in 38 minutes of playing time.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Knights' 79 points are their most this season after previously setting the season-high at St. John's on November 20 (74 points).
  • FDU connected for 28 field goals, their most in a single game in 2021-22.
Coach Lappas' Thoughts

"I'm so proud the way our guys continued to fight for 40 minutes today in a tough environment. We played together offensively and made Princeton work for their points on the defensive end. Our mantra all-season  with this young team has been 'continue to get better everyday.' I know we got better today. Credit to Princeton and Coach Henderson, they are a really good team."

"Brandon Rush is such a great kid who is constantly trying to become a better basketball player. He absolutely lived in the gym this offseason and it's showing now. The sky is the limit for him as we move through the season. I'm also very proud of our freshmen who are all improving each game we play; they all bring something unique to the table. I know we will get back in the gym tomorrow and continue to get better preparing for Manhattan on Tuesday night."
