Women’s Basketball Falls to Loyola Maryland in Overtime

BALTIMORE, MD. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (0-2, 0-0 NEC) were involved in a thriller with the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds (1-2, 0-0 NEC) that went to overtime, but ultimately saw the Knights fall 68-59.

How it Happened

  • FDU started the game on the front foot, earning their biggest lead of a close first half after a Rachael Niles three made it 9-2 within the first three minutes of the game.
  • After the Greyhounds closed the gap, they and The Knights traded buckets to close out the first quarter, but held onto a 14-12 advantage at the first period break.
  • The second quarter saw more back-and-forth action, but seven points in the quarter from Dahomée Forgues allowed the Knights to keep their advantage and head into the break with a 29-28 lead.
  • It was a tightly-contested second half, with both teams seeing their largest leads of the game during this half.
  • Madison Stanley's left-handed finish on the block leveled the game at 55 with five seconds remaining in regulation, sending us to an extra five minutes of overtime.
  • Loyola's seven unanswered points to start the overtime period proved too much and Loyola would ultimately take the victory by a score of 68-59.

Inside the Box Score

  • For the second consecutive game, the Knights were led in scoring by junior Dahomée Forgues. Forgues scored 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting, and also added three rebounds, two assists, and three made threes.
  • Chloe Wilson also finished in double figures for the second straight game, scoring 14 points and adding four rebounds and two assists.
