Women’s Soccer Honors Seniors, Draws with Howard

TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team (9-5-4, 6-2-2 NEC) shared the points with the Howard Bison (6-5-3, 5-3-2 NEC) on Senior Day on a day that also saw the Knights secure the #2 seed in the NEC Tournament.

How it Happened

  • The Knights found plenty of attacking joy early, as they earned the first six shots of the match, all before the half-hour mark of play.
  • FDU would find their breakthrough in the 42' from the left foot of Noam Kedem, who combined with Alyssa Caggiano to put the Knights ahead.
  • Howard responded quickly in the second half with a goal just under three minutes after the resumption of play.
  • The scoreline would remain 1-1, as the golden chance for either side in overtime saw Malene Nielsen was called upon to make a vital save in the 99', with Christa Waterman clearing the follow-up off the line.

Inside the Box Score

  • On this Senior Day, it was two seniors, Noam Kedem and graduate student Alyssa Caggiano, who combined to put the Knights on the board for their first respective goal contributions of the season.
  • Kedem was joined by Isabelle Udovc for the team-lead in shots with three, while Kedem and Aitana Martínez-Montoya both put a pair of shots on target.

Coach Teepe's Thoughts
"This senior class have had a great career. We always talk about the legacy, and leaving a strong legacy, and I think they've absolutely done that. We're still trying to find that elusive NEC Tournament Championship, and hopefully we can find a way to do that this year, but without a doubt they've represented this program in so many great ways."

"It is always nice to win the league in the regular season … but to finish second says a lot about the program and the players we have; so we're excited about that and ready to go in and challenge for a championship."

What's Next
The Knights will venture out to the campus of Central Connecticut State as the two-seed in the NEC Tournament as they will square off against Sacred Heart in the NEC Tournament Semifinals. The other semifinal match will see host CCSU take on Bryant, and both matches will take place on Friday, November 5. The winner of each semifinal will advance to the final on Sunday, November 7.
