HACKENSACK, N.J. - Women's volleyball (7-17, 2-8 NEC) swept NEC opponent Merrimack (0-25, 0-10 NEC) in the Rothman Center on Saturday.

Graduate student Miriam Stingl posted her 200th kill and fifth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 11 digs on a .378 clip.Â

Hitting a .360 average, sophomore Madisyn Beirne recorded 12 kills and two service aces for a total 14.5 points.

Exchange student Pauline Giordano anchored the Knights with a season-high 35 assists along with nine digs for the defense.
How it Happened

With the score knotted at seven in the first set, the Knights went on a five-kill streak to force a lead. The Warriors responded with a five-point run of their own, but couldn't close the gap. With 17 kills on a .368 clip, the Knights secured the set 25-16.

The Warriors established an edge early in set two but could not sustain it. Stingl and Beirne tallied a combined 13 kills to push the Knights into the lead. Holding Merrimack to a .146 clip, the Knights took the set 25-18.

FDU commanded set three with five service aces and three blocks. A final pair of kills by Beirne sealed the set for the Knights as they dropped Merrimack 25-17.

Next Up
The Knights will return to the Rothman Center next weekend to take on CCSU on Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Sacred Heart at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Our women's volleyball senior day will take place on Saturday's match against Sacred Heart.
