Scouting the Terriers
The Terriers started NEC play as one of the hottest teams in the conference, quickly jumping into the top third of the standings with victories over Merrimack and Bryant, and a solid draw against LIU. Since then, the Terriers have slipped a touch, but bounced back on Thursday, October 21, with a 4-0 victory at Mount St. Mary's, led by a first minute penalty kick and two later goals from Margaret Motolese. The St. Francis Brooklyn attack is led by points leader Hailey Russell, whose four goals are tied for the team lead, and her nine points top the charts for the Terriers. Barbara Zagonyi also has chipped in four goals for her side, while three other Terriers have racked up six points over the course of the season.
Scouting the Knights
Despite the recent setback against Bryant, the Knights remain in strong form and will look to get back to winning ways on the road, where they have gone undefeated this season in conference play. As of late, FDU's attack has been led by Aitana Martínez-Montoya, who has logged six goals in her last seven matches, and Madelyn Robbins, whose four assists in her last four matches propelled her into the team lead in the category. Naemi Hausen has added three goals and two assists to the Knights cause, and her eight points are second on the team behind only Martínez-Montoya, and Gina Steiner has played provider on three goals, sitting second behind Robbins in assists for FDU. In net, Malene Nielsen continues her stellar campaign, having made 76 saves with a goals against average of just 1.12 over the season.
Coach Teepe's Thoughts
"After a tough run of games where we went 3-1, we hope a little rest and recovery this week will get us back on our winning ways. Playing in Brooklyn is always tough but our players know what they want and how they have to play so I think we are ready."
What's Next
The Knights return back to the friendly confines of University Stadium for the make-up to the postponed match with Mount St. Mary's on Thursday, October 28, at 4 p.m. The match will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
