WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The
Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped the final game of its three-game series at William & Mary, 9-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Senior captain James
Donlon recorded three of the Knights' (1-3) four hits in the loss and scored a run, while classmate Mike
Veit went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Brandon
Raquet paced the Tribe (3-4) with a 3-for-5 effort, which included two RBI and two runs scored.
Sophomore right-hander Joey
Kosowsky (1-1) started for the Knights and went 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits, while striking out five.
The Knights trailed 2-0 after one inning of play due to a two-run triple by
Raquet. Down 3-0 in the top of the fifth, the Burgundy and Blue scratched across their first run of the day.
A pair of walks and an error loaded the bases with one out for
Veit, who knocked in Tony
Socci on a fielder's choice. W&M starter, Jack Cone escaped the jam by striking out the next man up and preserved his team's 3-1 edge.
The home team would strike for two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the eighth before the Knights responded with a tally in the ninth.
In addition to
Kosowsky, junior right-hander Austin
Crebs made his 2020 debut, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing two earned runs.
The Knights continue their road trip as they travel to Manhattan, Kansas to take on Kansas State for a three-game series. First up is a doubleheader on Friday, February 28 before a single game the following day.
