No. 17 Bowling Set for Final NEC Qualifier This Weekend

TEANECK, N.J. – The 17th-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team competes in its last Northeast Conference regular-season meet this weekend, seeking to lock up a spot in the upcoming NEC Tournament.
 
WEEKEND INFO
The Knights (45-31, 5-7 NEC) currently sit in fourth place out of seven teams in the NEC standings. FDU is behind 10th-ranked Duquesne (10-2), no. 25 LIU (9-3) and no. 13 Sacred Heart (8-4) are ahead of the Knights, with no. 14 Mount St. Mary's (4-8) occupying the fifth and final spot that would qualify for the NEC Championships in March. St. Francis Brooklyn and Saint Francis U are both currently outside the qualifying five in the standings, sitting at 3-9 entering this weekend.
 
The weekend's format is entirely Baker best four-of-seven team matches, with each team playing four opponents on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m., and three more matches taking place Sunday starting at 9 a.m. All seven matches will take place at Thirty Strikes Lanes in Stratford, N.J.
 
NEC WEEKLY HONORS
FDU senior Samantha Hart and freshman Cameron Spring garnered NEC Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, on February 12 after their performances at the Chestnut Hill Baker Classic. Hart earned her second career NEC Player of the Week award after leading the Knights with a 21.12 frame average and a 54.2 strike percentage (64-of-118), filling 87.3 percent of her frames on the way to gaining All-Tournament Team honors. Spring averaged 18.71 pins per frame and recorded 29 strikes on 63 attempts to earn her first NEC weekly award honor of her career.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights last competed in the Chestnut Hill Baker Classic, finishing in second place out of 14 teams. Hart and junior Aimee Sherman were both named to the All-Tournament Team, as the Knights ended the three-day tournament with a 10-3 record. FDU combined to score 12,796 pins and an average of 196.9 pins per game across 65 games in the event, making it to the championship match before falling to no. 18 Delaware State.
 
UP NEXT
After this weekend, the Knights compete again the following weekend at the Monmouth Hawk Flight Invite from Feb. 28-March 1 in Hamilton, N.J., at Hamilton Lanes, the site of the NEC Championships later in March.
