Jahlil Jenkins Collects NEC Co-Player of the Week Honors

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball junior guard Jahlil Jenkins helped the Knights pick up two crucial conference victories last week and earned NEC Co-Player of the Week recognition as announced on Monday afternoon.

Jenkins helped propel the Knights (8-16, 6-7 NEC) by averaging 26 points on 63.3 percent (19-of-30) shooting. The West Virginia native also contributed five assists and 3.5 steals per contest, while draining 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) from three-point range.

"I cannot tell you how much fun it is to coach Jahlil -- to be around him every day is a joy and privilege," said head coach Greg Herenda. "This past week he has taken his game to another level and with that, he makes everyone on our team that much better."

In the Knights' 33-point win over Wagner on Thursday, Jenkins poured in a career-high 31 points on 12-of-15 (80 percent) shooting, with seven assists and five steals. The junior followed up on Saturday by scoring 21 points in 38 minutes of action as the Knights defeated first-place Robert Morris 72-71 on a last second tip-in. The victory ended the Colonials' six-game winning streak and pulled the Knights to within one game of a top-four seed in the NEC standings.

On the season, Jenkins leads the Knights with 15.6 points and 3.6 assists per contest. Entering this week, the junior guard ranks 17th at FDU in points (1,190) fifth in assists (372) and eighth in steals (135).

The Burgundy and Blue are in action three times this week including a pair of home games this weekend. First up is a road tilt at Central Connecticut this Tuesday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m.
