SOMERSET, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball freshman
Chloe Wilson was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon as announced by the league office.
This is the second straight week in which Wilson has earned Rookie of the Week honors and her second time in her career. Bryant center Brooke Bjelko received NEC Player of the Week.
The Freeport, N.Y. native helped lead the Knights (3-1) to a 2-0 week and a three-game winning streak. The forward averaged 11.0 points per game and pulled down 3.0 rebounds per night in the two wins against NJIT. The freshman shot 53.3 percent and went 7-13 from the floor during the week.
She appeared off the bench on Friday night against NJIT and registered a team-high 14 points, including four critical free throws as the Knights won 54-48. The freshman went 5-8 from the floor and pulled down six assists as well. The forward also dished out her first two assists of her college career.
Wilson followed that performance up by scoring eight points as the Burgundy and Blue recorded a 68-54 victory over NJIT on Saturday. Wilson connected on her first two career three-pointers from the top of the arc. The forward also made two free throws in the contest. She took over in the fourth quarter as she accounted for 13 of the Knights 22 fourth quarter points.
The freshman forward is third on the team in points per game with 9.8 per contest and is shooting 50 percent from the floor. Wilson also ranks fourth on the team in rebounds as she pulls down 3.5 per night. She also leads the team in made free throws with 11.
The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, December 15 when they open up conference play against Saint Francis U at 7:00 p.m.
