KNIGHTS NOTES
The Knights are coming off a three-match weekend where they hosted the Knights Fall Classic. The Burgundy and Blue dropped their first two matches to Morgan State and Quinnipiac before a five-set battle with NJIT. In their final contest of the weekend, the Burgundy and Blue went down to the wire with the Highlanders and held a 13-10 lead in the deciding set before ultimately succumbing 16-14.
Freshman
Mujay Mambu has burst onto the scene for the Knights this season. Through her first six matches in the Burgundy and Blue, Mambu is second on the team with 2.55 kills per set and leads all FDU hitters with a .209 attack percentage. The Chantilly, Virginia native earned All-Tournament Team honors in each of the Knights' first two weekend tournaments. After logging eight total blocks in 2018, junior setter
McKenna Setterlund has already matched that total this season. Setterlund amassed a career-high four blocks in the Knights' match against Quinnipiac on Friday night. The third-year setter has also dished out 6.41 assists per set this season to go along with three service aces.
The Knights have announced the addition of
Zahraa Muhammad to the team. Muhammad played for Union High School prior to her arrival on the Hackensack.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
The Leopards hosted the Crosstown Tournament this past weekend and posted a 2-2 record with wins over Delaware State and UMES. Led by first-year head coach Ryan Adams, the Leopards picked up their first two victories of the season but dropped a pair of contests 3-1 to Manhattan and Penn. Sophomore Leanna Deegan paces the team offensively with 2.71 kills per set average, while freshman Ellie Carrera-Justiz has totaled 71 kills through the first seven matches. In the Leopards' loss to Penn last weekend, Carrera-Justiz logged a 13-kill, 12-dig double-double. The Leopards employ a 6-2 setup with Julia Howard and Jenna Bailey running the team. The senior Howard is averaging 4.75 assists per set, while the junior Bailey is close behind at 4.64 assists per set.

The Knights begin a stretch of six straight road matches when they travel to Providence, R.I. for the Friar Classic this weekend. First up is a tilt on Friday, September 13 against the host Providence at 5:00 p.m. The Burgundy and Blue will square off with Brown and Coppin State at the Classic on Saturday.
