SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped game two of its series at Bryant 13-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights (4-22-1, 2-6 NEC) were blanked by Bryant starter Tyler Mattison (4-1), who pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, two walks and striking out two on the afternoon.
Four different Knights accounted for one hit apiece in the loss including freshman
Tom Ruscitti, who went 1-for-2 with a walk in his return to the lineup after missing the previous four games.
The Bulldogs (19-10, 6-2 NEC) struck for three runs in the first including an RBI double by James Ciliento, which proved to be more than enough offense for Mattison and relief man Tyler Schoff.
The home team added three in the fourth – two of which came on a blast by Ryan Ward – and the final seven runs in the sixth inning as they rolled to the victory.
Junior right-hander
James Donlon started for the Knights and lasted one inning before giving way to
Brendan Medoro, who pitched five frames allowing the final 12 runs (10 earned). Senior
Dillon Forsythe came on in relief of Medoro and closed out the game with two scoreless innings.
These two teams close out the weekend series tomorrow with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m. at Conaty Park.
