No. 17 Bowling Competes in Second NEC Meet This Weekend

TEANECK, N.J. – The 17th-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team competes in its second of three Northeast Conference regular season meets this weekend, with competition beginning Saturday at 11:50 a.m.
 
TOURNAMENT INFO
The two-day event will take place at Colony Park North Lanes in York, Pa., beginning Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11:50 a.m., and will continue through Sunday afternoon. The teams will compete in a total of six matches with one bye round, with four matches slated for Saturday and three more taking place on Sunday starting at 9:25 a.m. All matches will be scored in a traditional team format. FDU is scheduled to face LIU, Sacred Heart and Duquesne on Saturday with the final time slot serving as FDU's bye round, and the Knights then go up against Mount St. Mary's, Saint Francis U and St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday.
 
SCOUTING REPORT
Three of the six NEC opponents the Knights will face this weekend are ranked in the NTCA Top 25. FDU faces two of those ranked teams – no. 19 Sacred Heart and no. 10 Duquesne – on Saturday and then plays no. 13 Mount St. Mary's in its first match on Sunday. LIU also received votes in the top 25 poll and are currently first in the NEC standings with a 5-1 conference record, one game ahead of the Knights (4-2) and Duquesne (4-2).
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights (19-12) went 8-5 in the UMES Hawks Classic two weekends prior and finished 10th out of 18 teams in a field that included 15 ranked teams. FDU won three matches on each of the first two days of the event and then won two of their three Baker playoff matches on the final day. The Knights averaged 186 pins per game and downed 12,093 pins over the course of the three-day event, earning wins over six different ranked teams that included then no. 1 Vanderbilt and no. 7 UMES as well as no. 13 Lincoln Memorial, no. 14 Tulane, no. 16 Saint Francis U and no. 25 Monmouth.

FDU takes a month-long break after this weekend, resuming the 2019-20 season at the Northeast Winter Classic hosted by Kutztown University from January 17-19 at AMF Bristol Lanes in Croydon, Pa.
