Cross Country and Track & Field Volunteer at C.A.R.E Walk

TEANECK, N.J. – Members of the Fairleigh Dickinson University men's and women's track & field and cross country teams volunteered at the Walk for Cancer Awareness Reaching Everyone (C.A.R.E.) on Sunday, October 6. The event took place at Holy Name Medical Center and was hosted by the physicians of the Patricia Lynch Cancer Center in Teaneck, N.J.

The participants participated in a mile-long walk around the medical center. The Knights helped in event setup, cheered on the participants and provided support with supplies.

"We were excited to participate in such a great cause and spread the message about cancer awareness," said head coach Sharlene Milwood-Lee. "The athletes did a great job of giving back to the community and supporting those affected by cancer."

The C.A.R.E walk, which featured 383 participants and 28 teams, raised over $18,000. Milwood-Lee concluded, "We had a lot of fun at the event and were able to talk to some amazing people who have been impacted by cancer."

The Patricia Lynch Cancer Center's mission is, "to provide lifetime management or cure for people with cancer through personalized strategies that address every patient's unique medical, physical, and emotional needs." The Center also offers other events for anyone that has been impacted by cancer.
