BRONX, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team wrapped up its weekend at Fordham's Four-in-the-Fall Tournament, with junior Maciej Autuch going unbeaten over the entire weekend in both singles and doubles.
 
The junior rolled past two Marist opponents in singles to win the Djokovic flight. He first engaged in a grueling battle with Jack Sequerth, dropping a tightly fought first set before bouncing back to win 6-2 in the second and then 12-10 in the superset to advance to the final. In the final, Autuch edged out his opponent Kian Yazdi in a close 7-6 (8) first set before cruising 6-1 in the second set.
 
Autuch also teamed with junior Moric Budinszky to down a St. Francis Brooklyn duo, 6-4, in the semifinals of the Bryan doubles flight. They met teammates Mehdi Dhouib and Eduardo Cabral in the final, after the two defeated a Fordham pairing 7-6 (6) to reach the final. Autuch and Budinszky got the better of their FDU teammates in a close 7-5 final.
 
Dhouib and Budinszky were two of three Knights to win the consolation ladders of their respective singles flights. Dhouib earned a 8-7 (2) victory over Pau Grabuleda of St. Francis Brooklyn, then got past Nestor Giribet Lopez of Marist by default. Budinszky first defeated an Army foe, 8-2, before downing Tom Just of St. Francis Brooklyn, 8-3, to end his singles run.
 
Junior Andris Gudins joined his teammates in winning the consolation ladder of his singles flight, defeating two St. Francis Brooklyn foes in Tomas Dirube (8-6) and Daniel Blasco (8-2).
 
Freshman Taiga Koyama made the final of the Edberg Singles Flight by earning a 6-1, 6-1 win over Will Okerman of Army, but he fell in the final match to Alexsi Watelet of Marist, in a close 2-6, 6-1, 4-10 defeat.
 
Gudins and freshman Teodors Pukse combined in doubles to drop only one game in their two consolation matches, winning 6-1 over an Army duo and 6-0 against a Marist pairing.
 
The Knights will take a 10-day break before sending players to compete in the ITA Regionals hosted at the University of Pennsylvania starting Thursday, October 17.

DAY ONE RECAP

BRONX, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team started the Fordham Four-in-the-Fall tournament on Saturday, earning wins in both singles and doubles action.

Freshman Teodors Pukse, the reigning NEC rookie of the month, won his singles match over a Fordham adversary in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 10-3, and redshirt sophomore Niclas Pietsch, junior Maciej Autuch and junior Eduardo Cabral won their respective singles matches in the first day of competition. 

Pietsch defeated Daniel Blasco of St. Francis Brooklyn, 7-6 (5), 6-3 in his singles match, and Autuch also earned a straight-set 6-1, 6-3 win over Army's Stan Liu. Cabral prevailed over Tomas Bernardes of St. Francis Brooklyn in his lone singles match, winning 6-7 (5), 7-5, 15-13 in a grueling singles match.

Freshman Taiga Koyama earned two singles victories for the Knights, first defeating Tim Cecere of St. Francis Brooklyn in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, before also earning a win over Gabrial Marshaal of Fordham, 7-5, 6-2 to advance.

In doubles, Autuch and junior Moric Budinszky won both their matches for the day, winning  by a 6-2 score over a St. Francis Brooklyn duo and a Marist pair in their respective matches. The FDU pairings of Pietsch and senior Ivan Solans Diaz (6-4) along with Dhouib and Cabral (7-5) also earned victories for the Knights in doubles action.
